These Became Actual Projects

Branding Your Toast
You want your stock quotes or horoscope hot off the presses. Your toaster pulls the information you want off the web and toasts the words into your toast. (This became counterACTIVE.)

Adjustable Countertop
You're 5' 4". Your spouse is 6' 2". Your countertop can sense your heights (or read the preferences you input) and adjust the countertop so that either one or both of you can comfortably work in the kitchen. (Undergraduate Jim McBean worked on this via cutlery that nose)

Scald Preventer
A coffee cup that changes color or has a built-in thermometer so that you know when it is the right temperature for you to drink. (Winslow Burleson has developed the chameleon mug.)

Reduce, Recycle, Reuse
How can tomorrow's kitchen help us to recycle? How can it help us to reduce waste? (Saul Griffith is addressing this in the vending machine venue and beyond by looking at how systems design and materials design can be combined to address this problem.)
