The MIT Media Lab and Apeejay Stya University will co-host the second Design & Innovation workshop in Delhi, India from March 26-30, 2012. This workshop aims to engage and inspire students, academics, and members of industry across all disciplines in inventing the future. The workshop will engage participants in ideation, design, and implementation of prototypes together with Media Lab and local mentors. The workshop will culminate in a plenary conference and exhibition that will be open to visitors from academia, industry leaders, and the media.

The ability to pattern functional materials in planar and three-dimensional forms is of critical importance for several emerging applications, including energy harvesting, self-healing materials, and tissue engineering scaffolds. Direct-write assembly enables one to rapidly design and fabricate materials in arbitrary shapes without the need for expensive tooling, dies, or lithographic masks.

Lawrence Lessig is the director of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard University, and a professor of law at Harvard Law School.

Prior to returning to Harvard, Lessig was a professor of law at Stanford Law School (where he was founder of Stanford's Center for Internet and Society), Harvard Law School (1997-2000), and the University of Chicago Law School. Lessig clerked for Judge Richard Posner on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice Antonin Scalia on the United States Supreme Court.
