for producersbroadcasters need a tool to capture the rationale underlying content decisions for educational television.by annotating television content with justification structures and an ontology of questions and issues, viewers might be prompted to engage in inquiry and explanation about the content. for parentsparents will be armed with questions that enable them to help their children question knowledge rather than blindly accept the work of television.justifications provided by the content producers will act as a model for facilitating inquiry with children. parents will receive messages containing a)television programs their children have watched, b)the issues covered in those programs, c)suggestions for questions to ask about those issues, and d)a link to a website containing video clips of the program to review. |
