EAST COAST PREMIERE AT BOSTON LYRIC OPERA

WORLD PREMIERE RECORDING FORTHCOMING ON ALBANY RECORDS

Commissioned and premiered in 1999 by Houston Grand Opera, Tod Machover's Resurrection, called "a milestone and a noble achievement" (Lloyd Schwartz, National Public Radio), takes its inspiration from Tolstoy's last novel, written more than one hundred years ago. From November 7-20, 2001, Boston Lyric Opera presented the East coast premiere of a new production at Boston's Shubert Theater, in performances conducted by Christopher Larkin and starring Carleton Chambers (baritone) and Christine Abraham (mezzo-soprano). The libretto is by Laura Harrington, with additional material by Braham Murray. This new production was directed by BLO's Artistic Director, Leon Major. The World Premiere Recording of Resurrection by Houston Grand Opera is forthcoming on Albany Records
