PATRICK SUMMERS, CONDUCTOR


Patrick Summers is Houston Grand Opera's Music Director. Maestro Summers made his Houston Grand Opera debut in February's production of La Traviata. He recently received acclaim for his performances of Rigoletto, Guillaume Tell, Carmen and L'Incoronazton di Poppea for San Francisco Opera. Madama Butterfly and Iphlgenie en Tauride forOpera Australia and La Boheme for Seattle Opera. This season also saw his well-received Metropolitan Opera debut Die Fleermans. Maestro Summers, who conducted numerous performances of Andre Previn's A Streetcar named Desire in San Francisco, is scheduled to conduct the world premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking for San Francisco Opera in 2000. In addition to making his Met and HGO debuts this season, Maestro Summers conducted at the Kennedy Center Honors gala, returned to San Francisco Opera for Norma and returns to Opera Australia for Rinaldo.
