We appreciate your interest in MAS 863. Because of the overwhelming demand for the limited space in the course, we ask prospective students to send a brief description of their prior design and fabrication experience, present institutional affiliation, and goals in taking the class, to mas863a@media.mit.edu, with a subject of "MAS 863 application". These will be due by the morning of September 11, the day after the first class meets, to accomodate the many students who show up without advance contact; you will be notified that day whether we will be able to include you this semester. In selecting the students we are not looking for any particular attribute; we seek to balance beginners with experts, artists with engineers, and so forth.
