This week I machined an aluminium tuning fork.

Diagram is Lathe (to flatten the top end, shave the diameter down to .85", and bore the hole that would later be threaded)

  • Mill (to flatter the bottom end and remove the material from between the "tines" of the fork")
  • Drill Tap (to make the threads inside the hole we bored) It came out pretty nicely - although everyone's tuning forks had a slightly different pitch! So I guess we're not quite as precise as we could have been.
