To Bring up the mold template in Ideas for Injection Molding
1. Start Ideas 8.
Make sure you are running Design/Master-Modeler.
(The control windows should contain three groups of buttons;
18 buttons in a 6x3 block,
above 12 buttons in a 4x3 block,
above 12 buttons in another 4x3 block)
2. Press the "Get From Library" button --
Found by holding down the button in the lower right corner
of the middle button block. It looks like a
(Greek Parthenon Building with a Yellow Upward-Pointing Arrow)
3. A "Get from Project Library" dialog box window appears.
In the center is a large listbox,
listing all of the PROJECTs, all of our names.
Scroll until you see "egon", and doubleclick this word "egon",
doubleclicking in the listbox.
(At this point the list should change to show two entries
indented and under my name, these are my two libraries.
They will be called "Base" and "MonkeyMriLib".)
If you see these, doubleclick on the "Base" library.
This is where I put a copy of the template.
(At this point the list should change to show two entries
indented again under the "Base" library. The two entries
are "Mold Template" and "Platonic Ideal". These two parts
are the only contents of that library.)
Click on "Mold Template", to indicate this is the part
that you want to check out.
(At this point the line containing mold template should
highlight dark, and a number of previously-gray buttons
should become active.)
Click on the button "Copy".
This is to indicate that you want a *copy* of the
"Mold Template" part, rather than some kind of
"referenced check out" that maintains a dependency
between the version you will get, and the version in the
library. Frankly I don't fully understand this part
of Ideas, but I know that if you accidentally
create such a "reference dependency", it may make it
difficult for other people to access this part.
(Like, Ideas might complain to other people, "you can't
access this part because it's checked out by Angela")
Making a simple copy make sense and doesn't cause trouble.
(The letters "Co" should appear next to the "Mold Template"
in the list box".)
4. Click "OK" in the dialog box.
(The Ideas "List" window (one of the small windows
that's constantly scrolling Ideas messages) should display
something like "Retrieving egon/Base/Mold Template.1"
and maybe "Retrieval successful.")
(And the dialog box goes away.)
5. You now have your very own copy of this template,
