Introductory

• The Basics of NMR by J.P. Hornak.
  You shouldn't proceed without understanding chapters 1-6. Chapters 7 and 10 are worthwhile too.
• NMR course notes by David Cory
  Excellent, although completely classical, introduction to NMR. You can skip the gradient and imaging parts, but should know the rest.
• John Preskill Quantum Computing lecture notes
  Before Ike's book, it enjoyed a few short years as the canonical text on quantum computers. I should probably read it some time.
• Principles and Demonstrations of Quantum Information Processing by NMR Spectroscopy - T. F. Havel, S. S. Somaroo, C.-H. Tseng, D. G. Cory. Ties it all together

Papers and theses

• Ed Bodyen's thesis - Read it to learn sympathy for those who stand in his long shadow.
• Yael Maguire's thesis - Mostly pretty specific and hardware-oriented; a lot of stuff I haven't seen anywhere else.
