The trip to the Bay Area was very interesting albeit a bit exhausting. On Friday we went with Neil to visit IBM Almaden and HP in Palo Alto. Neil probably told you guys about that already. On Saturday, Neil took us to see the Hearst estate in San Simeon. That was a good excuse for a scenic drive along Route 1 in a nice Mustang convertible. (pictures will be forthcoming)
The main reason for our trip was to attend the 1996 MTT (Microwave Theory and Techniques) Microwave Symposium, which includes all kinds of presentations, workshops, and trade info on everything having to do with RF and Microwaves, theory, devices, and applications. This year's conference turned out to be the largest ever with 10,000 people in attendance.
Presentations took place 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday, and Matt and I spent all our time there. We even split up so we could cover more, but we still only caught those talks which were most relevant to wireless sensing, radars, and wireless data communications. We brought back a bunch of information. The oral presentations alone fill up a 3 volume set of books, which can be found on our RF bookshelf. There is also a CD-ROM containing the documents found in the digests.
