The Singing Trees

The Singing Trees have only a microphone as their input interface, and, like the speaking trees, have an LCD screen and stereo headphones (plus speakers in this case) as output devices. The quality of the singing voice is analyzed, and a video sequence and musical sequence are perturbed accordingly.

A writeup by Will Oliver, a Media Lab Graduate student who directed the Singing Tree development effort, nicely describes this installation. His MS thesis and DIS article provide an even more detailed description.
