Abstract

We define and implement a simple visualization for crowds of people visiting a web site. The web site is visualized as a space: visitors to the site inhabit that space, milling around and moving from place to place creating visible crowd dynamics. Our site visualization is based on Footprints, a fisheye map of a web site. The visualization of people is implemented by examining web site traffic and then displaying people's browsing with a simple dynamical model. The result is an intuitive feel for the crowds on a web site.
