Q:
What is the difference between the IBM Aglets release and
the Open Source release?
A:Currently, the Open Source release is almost the same as IBM Aglets 1.1 beta3, except for non-existence of expiration. However, we expect that the Open Source community will develop ASDK further, so we
encourage you to check for the newest version on
Aglets.org!

Q:What
platforms is ASDK available on?
A:Aglets
Software Development Kit requires you to have
installed
JDK 1.1 or later: Aglets Software Development
Kit with JDK 1.1 is qualified for
・SPARC/Solaris 2.5,
・x86/Solaris(1.1 beta 4)
・Windows95/NT, AIX 4.1.4
・OS/2(1.1.1 beta)
・Macintosh(MRJ SDK 2.0.1)
Since it is entirely written in Java,
it should run on any platform that supports
JDK 1.1.x. (Our installer does not support all
the platforms on which JDK 1.1 is available.
For example, you need manual installation for
HP-UX.) The current ASDK does not work
with JDK 1.2 beta, because JDK 1.2 beta is not
fully compatible with JDK 1.1.x. We do not decide when we will provide ASDK which runs on JDK 1.2.

Q:Are
there any publicly available aglet servers running
on the Internet?
A:Yes,
we have the following sites:
atp://procyon.nal.ics.es.osaka-u.ac.jp:4434
in Japan
JDK 1.1.6, ASDK V1.03, Platform SGI O2 R10000,
IRIX 6.3
If you find an aglet "examples.http.WebServerAglet"
is running in this site, please take a look
at the web page: http://procyon.ics.es.osaka-u.ac.jp:4434/aglets/default/te
st/next.html Note for NT users:
Many aglets can not return from these servers.
When you use ASDK on the NT platform, the server
cannot always acquire its network domain name.
(It depends on the environment.) If the server
fails to determain the domain name, please specify
the "-domain yourhost.domain" option on starting
up Tahiti(agletsd). (Otherwise your agent
will not not be able to determain the domain
of its home server.)
If you are running another server on the Internet,
please let us know.
