the fork machine
Bill Tomlinson

A counter-top injection-molding machine that makes utensils, plates, and dishes. The machine has a vat of melted plastic (or some other material) and a bunch of molds. When you want a certain utensil, you stick in the appropriate mold, hit a button, and a few seconds later you have a freshly-made fork or spoon or bowl.
When you're done with dinner, you just throw the used items back into the hopper, where they are melted down. The heat kills any bacteria, and detritus either rises to the top or sinks to the bottom, where it can be skimmed and disposed of.
Benefits: Makes cleaning up easy, saves water, frees up storage space, reduces trash. I'd pay a thousand dollars never to do dishes again...
Problems: Is there a plastic that can be melted down again and again? Or maybe some polymer or wax or something? Can it be microwaveable?
