BIO:
Randy Rettberg is Director of the MIT Registry of Standard Biological Parts. Before returning to MIT, he spent 30 years in the computer industry. At Sun Microsystems, he was the chief technology officer of the Network Storage division. At Apple Computer, he managed the Media Systems department. At BBN he was part of the ARPANET development team, developed the C/30 packet switch, and the satellite networks used in the early Internet. He is known for his work on the Butterfly Parallel Processors and the Monarch while at BBN. He was the first hardware engineer for the Architecture Machine group.
