Danielle Wood will be speaking on Using Space to Support a Sustainable Society

Six areas of space activity are supporting societal needs, as defined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including earth observation, communication, positioning, microgravity research, technology transfer, and fundamental research. While progress has been made, barriers still remain that limit the application of space technology as a tool for advancing sustainable development. Hear how the Space Enabled research group works to increase the opportunities to design and apply space technology in support of the Sustainable Development Goals with societal leaders from around the world.

About SciTech Forum
Innovation in aerospace starts here, at the AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (AIAA SciTech Forum). The theme for 2020 AIAA SciTech is “Driving Aerospace Solutions for Global Challenges.” The 2020 forum will bring together experts from across the globe to share ideas on a variety of technical disciplines and explore the aerospace industry’s contributions to a sustainable future. Whether it’s combating climate change via Earth-observation satellites for weather and polar ice-cap mapping or delivering life-saving supplies via unmanned vehicles across busy urban cities and to remote rural villages, aerospace technology inspires and supports the betterment and prosperity of people and our planet. The forum’s program consists of two main parts; the technical program offers a deeper take on research and technologies geared to solve specific problems, and the Plenary and Forum 360 sessions guide the attendees through the most pressing issues impacting the future of aerospace on a high level.
