The Moral:Today, wireless LAN systems are rated by how far individual nodes transmit. As network densities increase, a better figure of merit will be how near they transmit. |

In a dense network, bandwidth is limited if one transmitter dominates the available airspace. Therefore, a better figure of merit is how tightly localized the transmitters are, not how far each transmitter can reach.
