Memory is a fundamental cognitive ability that plays an integral role in a wide array of downstream cognitive functions, including reasoning, problem-solving, learning, and communication. It is a computational resource that is at the foundation of many of our activities. Memory involves a continual cycle of interactions of encoding, storing, and retrieving information. The advent of AI has led to a transformation in computer capabilities, and current research is exploring how an AI-enhanced human may be able to demonstrate an improved memory capacity and consequently make more informed decisions and better communicate in a variety of contexts. By developing wearable systems and conversational interfaces for real-time memory support, we are exploring how to augment social interactions and memory performance for people of all ages.
This project is a work-in-progress with two prototypes under experimentation.
