Theme | The Future of Television

Groups

In the 1990’s, Nicholas Negroponte articulated that being digital meant the channel could understand the content, not just the signal. Contemporaneous work addressed opening new channels, simplifying media creation, and reducing barriers between people. Now we are at the threshold of altering the content at a semantic level — the form, the meaning, and the message. Television of the future may be composed in your receiver, designed for you, and presented in a way that can inspire. Or not. We explore the “subcarriers of information” in the design, emotive expression, and style of news that replaces inform with influence. Then we build ways to understand and expose manipulation, and represent information in a form that promotes thought.
