The problem we address is how we can go beyond remote productivity and enable the social and serendipitous interactions that might spur remote creativity and engagement. We considered a variety of difficult cases, such as incoming students who lack a pre-existing social network with whom they can casually interact. This applies to any on-boarding situation. Another example is tele instruction, where the goal is to show someone how to do something. We considered hardware such as a “telecreativity kit”.
