A functioning society is predicated on an informed and active populace. Our work on broadcast news media analyzes how its unspoken cues incite reflexive responsive rather than reflective thought. We build apps to inspire the latter. We also work on systems that support grassroots organization to facilitate effective civic action. Our projects combine AI with video to parse and mediate presentational style as well challenges or gamelike behavior to inspire and propagate responsible civic action.
