PennyPC (PPC) explores the use of commodity processes and natural mechanisms to dramatically reduce the cost and expand the reach of computing and communications. This includes developing new technologies to print conductors, insulators, semiconductors, memories, sensors, actuators and display elements, and creating the means to remotely interrogate smart materials embedded in objects to determine their identity, track their locaton, and detect the nature of their environment, for pennies per tag.
