Job Description

A Postdoctoral position is available in the Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek​ (NCB) research group at the MIT Media Lab. Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek research groups’ aim is to develop extremely miniaturized micro-nano-devices that probe and modulate our biological system. The device will consist of hybrids of nanoelectronics with chemical functionalization and biological materials. 

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop biomedical devices combining inorganic and biological materials;
  • Synthesize various stimuli-responsive polymers, nanoparticles, peptides etc.;
  • Surface functionalization of nanoelectronics devices;
  • Check functionality in in-vitro and in-vivo applications;
  • Perform sensing experiment for detection of various chemicals, ions, biomolecules, enzymes, pH etc.

Reports to Prof. Deblina Sarkar  

Supervision Exercised:

None. 

This position is for one year with the possibility of an extension. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, bio/mechanical/ electrical/electronics engineering, physics, or relevant field;
  • Experience with polymer chemistry, chemical synthesis, chemical functionalization/drug delivery/ chemical-bio-gas sensing.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with in-vivo animal work;
  • Experience with cultured cells;
  • Experience with brain stimulation and recording;
  • Experience in nanofabrication.
