Communications and Special Projects

The  Communications + Special Projects team (CSP) at the Media Lab provides a central communications management, strategy and problem solving resource to Lab leadership and the entire Lab community.

CSP is both “glue and grease” for the Lab. CSP combines the Special Projects team's focus on bringing systems thinking to operational challenges with the Communications team's expertise in improving engagement and information-share internally across the Lab and externally to to the world.  In addition to providing the same high level of internal and external communications expertise the Lab has come to depend on, this expanded group also provides the following services: 

  • Coordination and maintenance of internal and external communications strategies, content creation, and community engagement channels.
  • Centralized process management for the Lab and special project coordination as directed by Media Lab leadership.
  • Support for values-driven decision making and commitment to Media Lab identity across departments, research groups, and operations.

  • Translation of leadership strategy into execution for Lab-wide and group projects, including new projects and projects that require transition/change/case management (e.g., research group start-up and wind down).
