Marcella Framondi

Administrative Assistant
  • Affective Computing

I bring more than two decades of experience across higher education, research administration, marketing, and client engagement, combining academic and corporate expertise in my current role at the MIT Media Lab. Since 2023, I have served as Academic Assistant for the Affective Computing group, supporting Professor Rosalind Picard and managing daily operations for a team of PhD students, research scientists, and visiting faculty. In this position, I oversee budgeting and financial reporting, plan and execute events, coordinate complex scheduling and travel, and manage external relations. I also served as Financial Chair and on-site Manager for the 2023 International Conference on Affective Computing and Intelligent Interaction, which hosted more than 350 international participants.

Earlier in my career, I gained extensive experience in academic administration. At MIT Sloan Executive Education, I managed a $4 million program portfolio, designing and delivering custom programs for Global 1000 companies. At Boston University, I spent almost 11 years as Admissions Manager at the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP), where I streamlined application processes and reporting systems.

I also built a diverse background spanning retail and marketing. At Barneys New York, I supported women’s ready-to-wear, developing designers, and shoes, contributing to store productivity, maintaining merchandise presentation standards, and assisting cross-departmental teams to maximize sales and customer experience. In marketing and communications, I spent nearly a decade in social media and digital strategy, including serving as Social Media Manager for Master Distillers, LLC, where I developed and executed multi-platform campaigns. Additional roles with Bright Blue Maps and Cut On Your Bias deepened my expertise in marketing strategy, press outreach, and client development.

I am known for my project management skills, collaborative approach, and ability to bridge academia and industry. Fluent in Spanish and Italian, I bring a global perspective to my work and thrive in environments that value innovation, teamwork, and growth.
