The Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Congressional Families Program will host a reception on April 29, 2025, in recognition of Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month. This invitation-only event will take place in the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

During the event, Heather Obernolte—spouse of US Representative Jay Obernolte—will present Dr. Dava Newman with the Carolyn “Bo” Aldigé Visionary Award, in recognition of the MIT Media Lab's groundbreaking research in advancing women’s health. The award, given annually since 2023, was named in honor of the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s founder. The Media Lab's women’s health program, WHx, takes an interdisciplinary approach, combining artificial intelligence, wearable technology, and biomedical research to revolutionize how we understand and address women’s health issues.

The evening will also include remarks from Cassie Smith, Senior Manager of Congressional Families and Education Marketing at the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

“We are honored to recognize the MIT Media Lab for its transformative contributions to cancer prevention and early detection,” said Ms. Smith. “Through its innovative research, the Media Lab has consistently pushed the boundaries of art, science, engineering and design to develop solutions that enhance wellbeing worldwide. Their dedication is a testament to the profound impact of innovation in the fight against cancer. We are excited to celebrate their work, which inspires hope and drives progress in this field.”
