Aurelia Institute, a Media Lab spinoff created by former Space Exploration Initiative founder Ariel Ekblaw, has been named to Fast Company's 2024 Next Big Things in Tech list. They were honored in the "Small and Mighty: Fewer Than 100 Employees" category.
TESSERAE, a project that began at the Media Lab and is being continued at Aurelia, aims to create the building blocks of living in space: tessellated electromagnetic space structures for the exploration of reconfigurable, adaptive environments comprised of adaptive tiles that can float, find each other, and come together to create microgravity habitats.
Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech awards celebrate technological breakthroughs that are changing the way we work and live. This year’s awards include 138 honors for innovations impacting everything from transportation to telecommunications to agriculture.
