Abstract
The MIT Media Lab is pleased to publish our first WHx Donor Report, marking a milestone moment for a program that, in just its inaugural year, has begun to transform the future of women’s health.
Launched in October 2024, WHx brings together engineers, designers, biomedical scientists, and social innovators to address long-standing gaps that have left women underserved for decades. This report offers a comprehensive look at that first year—showcasing how donor support has accelerated breakthrough technologies such as the wearable ultrasound breast patch, emotionally intelligent AI for caregiving, nanoscale neural diagnostics, digital self-care platforms, and mobility-equity innovations. It also highlights WHx’s growing influence in shaping national and global conversations on women’s health, expanding policy engagement, and amplifying public awareness through major media coverage and international collaborations.
Together, these achievements reflect a rapidly growing movement—powered by philanthropy, grounded in interdisciplinary research, and united by the conviction that every woman deserves access to the full promise of science, innovation, and compassionate care.
