The Future Sketches group is pleased to announce our first series of public talks focused on artist-built toolkits. What does/should the next generation of creative coding environments look like? What questions should we be asking about these tools? We'll speak to four inspiring creators who are pushing the boundaries of both art making and tool making every Wednesday to hear about their work and perspectives. Held weekly online (starting May 12, 2021) from 12-1pm EST at this Zoom link.

Phoenix Perry creates embodied games, installations, and tools for creating gesture based interaction design. Her work brings people together to explore their impact on each other and the environment. As an advocate for women in game development, she founded Code Liberation Foundation. Presently, she leads an MSc in Creative Computing at University of the Arts London's Creative Coding Institute, and is working on InteractML.  InteractML (http://interactml.com) is an interactive machine learning plugin for Unity and Unreal. Baku Hashimoto

Baku Hashimoto is a video director/visual artist/creative coder based in Japan. Having backgrounds in both digital arts and filmmaking, he works on everything from MVs and web features to interactive art, conducts experiments in different modes of expression, and explores diverse styles of video and graphics.

Patricio González Vivo

Patricio Gonzalez Vivo is an artist and engineer who uses code and light to turn data into stunning landscapes. His landscapes address the problem of scale and the development of technology to perceive beyond the world in front of us. This technology helps us to see where our eyes are otherwise blind, pushing our cognitive limits. Patricio’s landscapes are not just representations of space but compositions of time and perception. Although his work is technically sophisticated his process is driven by curiosity and playful tinkering. Binoculars, telescopes, astrolabes, compasses, grids, maps, and photographs are some of the apparatus that trigger his imagination.

Matt DesLauriers

Matt DesLauriers is a Canadian-born artist and creative coder now living in London, UK. His interactive installations have been displayed in special events at the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. His work was part of Reykjavik’s 2019 Winter Lights Festival in Iceland and Ontario Place Park’s 2018 Winter Light Exhibition in Toronto. Matt is active in the open source community and has given numerous talks, classes, and workshops on creative coding such as UCL Bartlett School of Architecture in London, FITC in Toronto and Amsterdam, Frontend Masters in Minneapolis, and GROW in Paris.
