What if textiles could respond to body gestures?

Ganit Goldstein, a researcher, designer, and student in the MIT MS in Architecture Studies in Computation program, will deliver this talk as part of the IMMERSED monthly seminar which explores the possibilities enabled by immersive technology and interactive experiences. This talk is virtual, free, and open to the public.

Goldstein’s research explores the hybrid workflow between digital and physical body movement through programmable interactive textiles. Her research investigates how we interact and form relationships with physical materials in a digital space, and suggests new ways that smart textiles can facilitate interactions between the physical world and virtual simulations through body motion.

Using 3D technologies, Goldstein is working on developing digital and tangible fabric systems that can communicate hybrid workflow of adding new dimensions to material systems through the concept of augmented textiles.
