Special Media Lab Talk: Mark Abel

Friday
April 11, 2014

Location

MIT Media Lab, E14-240

Description

This talk will provide an overview of the Intel Science and Technology Center for Pervasive Computing (ISTC-PC) and will highlight some of the research that will help drive the next generation of pervasive and ubiquitous computing. For the past 20 years, the pervasive and ubiquitous computing community has developed technology that allows sensing, computing, and wireless communication to be embedded in everyday objects, enabling a range of context-aware applications. These apps and technologies embedded in our everyday life are changing the way people are experiencing computing, but even more is possible. Future systems will support applications that have much deeper awareness of users and their activities, context, and goals, and will be able to learn and adapt continuously to user's habits, routines, and preferences. Come hear how the Intel Science and Technology Center for Pervasive Computing (ISTC-PC) is helping to instantiate this vision.
