- Program in Media Arts and Sciences
Dr. Alma Jam serves as the Community Building and Student Engagement Officer for the Program in Media Arts and Sciences (MAS) at MIT’s Media Lab, where she leads initiatives designed to strengthen community, foster belonging, and enhance the graduate student experience. Her work focuses on cultivating an inclusive and supportive culture across the Lab through programming, advocacy, and strategic engagement.
Dr. Jam coordinates the Community Building and Student Support (CB&SS) Workshop Series, which provides opportunities for dialogue, skill-building, and community connection. She also advises and collaborates with the Media Lab Community Working Group to advance efforts that improve climate and culture within the institution. In her role, she works closely with students to identify challenges, develop action plans, and connect them with resources that support their academic and personal success.In addition, Alma oversees graduate student recruitment and admissions support for MAS, helping to shape and welcome future generations of interdisciplinary researchers, artists, designers, and innovators.
