Annie Xing is a multidisciplinary designer at Harvard GSD and a Visiting Researcher at the MIT Media Lab. With a dual background in fashion design and economics, she combines aesthetic intuition with quantitative systems, working at the intersection of materials, computation, and interaction. Her work focuses on interactive wearables and embodied systems that integrate parametric design, bio-robotic fabrication, and physiological computing. Moving beyond “tech on the body,” she builds bio-responsive systems by embedding interactions directly into materials. Recently, her work has expanded toward biomaterials fabrication, exploring how material behavior, computation, and embodiment can function as a unified system. Annie seeks to create responsive, interactive systems that move beyond screen-based interfaces by embedding computation within material behavior, reimagining interfaces not as tools, but as physical media that sense, respond, and communicate through form, movement, and material intelligence.
