Bob Tianqi Wei is an HCI researcher in the Tangible Media Group at the MIT Media Lab. His research explores tangible and embodied interaction, creativity, memory, and human-AI interaction.
Before joining MIT, Bob was a researcher at UC Berkeley’s Berkeley Institute of Design Lab (BiD), where he worked on AI-mediated creativity support, and a software engineer at eTopus Technology. His research has been published at CHI, UIST, and FAccT, including work recognized with a UIST Best Paper Award. He holds an MDes in Human-Computer Interaction from UC Berkeley and a BA in Industrial Design from Tsinghua University.
Outside of research, Bob is a classical musician, designer, and frontend engineer, and he often bring these practices into his teaching and interactive prototypes.
