Lei Xia is a Ph.D. candidate at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, where his research centers on virtual reality, spatial computing, and digital embodiment in human-centered design. He examines how immersive technologies—VR, AR, and multi-sensory interfaces—reshape experience, cognition, and interaction within complex product and service ecosystems. Drawing on embodied cognition and human–computer interaction, he investigates how virtual environments and embodied digital agents can strengthen engagement, trust, learning, and collaboration.

His work integrates design research, experimental user studies, and applied prototyping, with particular emphasis on VR-enabled interaction paradigms, multi-modal perception, and immersive system design. Lei has partnered with academic and industry collaborators on projects across education, healthcare, cultural heritage, and enterprise systems, with findings appearing at leading venues including ACM CHI, IEEE ISMAR, and IEEE FIE, and in journals such as Pattern Recognition. This interdisciplinary stance—spanning design, technology, and organizational contexts—lets him translate insights from immersive research into practical, real-world applications.
