How did your experience at the Lab influence your next step?

I used games as a platform for cognitive science and speech understanding research at the lab, and after a postdoc I transferred to the game industry to see if I could do some interesting work inspired by my time at the lab there.

The intensity of the lab can make for an awesome couple of years as a student, but think early about whether that intensity is what you want for the rest of your career. Some do, but it's fine if you don't - your time at the lab is still yours, and you'll take lots of importance from it with you no matter what you do afterwards.
