After graduation, Matthew went on to be a postdoc in Grenoble, France. He later returned to the U.S. where he worked at Teleos Research in Palo Alto, CA and then Microsoft Research in Redmond, WA. Matthew also held a joint appointment in Computer Science and in Media Arts & Technology at UC Santa Barbara. He worked at the startup company Caugnate, which was acquired in 2016 by PTC Vuforia. Currently, Matthew is a Professor and Chair at UC Santa Barbara, working in computer vision, augmented reality, machine learning, intelligent and multimodal interfaces.
