Wazeer Zulfikar is a technologist and researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With a background in computer science, neuroscience, imaging, and artificial intelligence, he is interested in the symbiotic relationship between biological and technological systems. He is exploring how wearables can interact in a way that technology can augment human memory, learning, and communication abilities.
His current research is focused on assisting communication in minimally verbal people using generative AI. He is also working on increasing the effectiveness of verbal communication using a personalized AI assistant. He has previously worked on predicting cognitive decline using speech.
He has published works in InterSpeech, NeurIPS, IJCNN, and more. In the industry, he has previously worked in startups on self-driving cars, single-photon cameras, and contactless biometrics.
