Rachael has had a wide and varied career, although the constant across her roles in healthcare, higher education, and nonprofits has been building strong relationships to help individuals and organizations thrive. She comes to the Media Lab from Combined Jewish Philanthropies, where she served as the Chief People Officer since 2020. She was responsible for a staff of 170 and focused on culture, engagement, and helping the organization move through the pandemic.
Prior to CJP, Rachael served as the Director of Human Resources for the MIT Libraries, overseeing a staff of 180 working across six locations. Before that, Rachael served as the Human Resources Director for Partners In Health, a Boston-based non-profit serving the poorest and most marginalized communities around the globe. She also worked for over 10 years at Harvard Business School, where she provided personal, academic, and professional coaching to MBA students and alumni.
Rachael graduated from Tufts University with a degree in psychology and earned her master’s degree from Smith College School for Social Work. Rachael has always been fascinated by how humans interact with one another, motivate themselves, and engage in meaningful work. Rachael lives in Somerville with her husband, Al, and has two adult children, Maddox and Chava.
