Senior Design Manager
After graduation, Alan worked on UI/UX for a lot of companies. He was in one successful start-up and several unsuccessful. Then he became an Enterprise UX specialist/ Currently, Alan works for another software company running a small design team and a number of design projects for various elements of the company's software suite.
How did your experience at the Lab influence your next step?
I had people asking me to quit grad school and go to work for their start-ups but I stayed to finish my PhD. Once that was done I found a start-up and worked at that.
Enjoy your time at the Lab. Work less hard, explore much more. Swim in the sea of very smart people and find creative ideas that you want to put effort into - ideas are cheap; effort is precious.
