Dr. Minoo Rathnasabapathy presented  keynotes at the 1st IAA (International Academy of Astronautics) African Symposium on Small Satellites and the 5th African Space Generation Workshop.  Read below for more details:

1st IAA African Symposium on Small Satellites

In February 1999, South Africa’s first satellite, Sunsat-1, was launched. This 64-kg microsatellite was built by staff and students at the University of Stellenbosch and operated successfully for 2 years. Twenty years later, Stellenbosch and the surrounding area has become a Space hub for both local industry and academia, and became the venue for the first IAA (International Academy of Astronautics) Symposium on Small Satellites in Africa. 

On Tuesday, November 30, Rathnasabapathy gave the keynote address to start that day of the conference.

5th African Space Generation Workshop

The 5th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) is a two-day hybrid workshop, which brings together students, young professionals, industry experts and government stakeholders from across the African continent. It provides an unparalleled opportunity for the future leaders of Africa’s space sector to proactively establish strong relationships, exchange ideas and knowledge, and to collaborate on novel ways in which space technology can be utilized for the benefit of Africa. The 5th AF-SGW was held as a hybrid event from the 26th to the 27th of November 2021 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The theme for this workshop was ‘Building a Self-Sustaining African Space Sector.'  

On November 27, Dr. Rathnasabapathy gave the keynote address for the day, entitled 'Enabling Africa.'
