Qian Janice Wang, an alum of the Opera of the Future group, has been awarded the title of Master of Wine—the highest distinction in the academic wine world—by the Institute of Masters of Wine. She is the first Master of Wine residing in Denmark.
Her final research paper examined how people perceive and describe acidity in wine, combining chemical analysis, sensory evaluation, an online questionnaire, and in-person tasting experiments conducted in Copenhagen and London. Reflecting on the achievement, she noted her commitment to connecting academia and the wine trade, using sensory research to enhance expertise and practice in the field.
Wang, who received her PhD from the University of Oxford, is now Associate Professor and Head of Section (Design and Consumer Behaviour) at the University of Copenhagen.
