Tapis Magique: A Choreomusical Interactive Carpet has been nominated for SXSW Innovation Awards in two categories—Music/Audio Innovation and Students.

Developed in collaboration with dancer Loni Landon, Tapis Magique is a pressure-sensitive, knitted electronic textile carpet that generates three-dimensional sensor data based on body postures and gestures and drives an immersive sonic environment in real-time. The project demonstrates a creative interplay between art and technology,  highlighting the deep emotional link between contemporary textiles, dance, and music through the physical-digital connection.

Category winners, plus additional honors, will be announced at the 24th annual SXSW Innovation Awards Ceremony on the evening of Monday, March 14. In advance of the Awards Ceremony, Tapis Magique will be presented to SXSW attendees at the Innovation Awards Finalist Showcase on Saturday, March 12, from 12pm-6pm at Griffin Hall in the JW Marriott Downtown Austin.
