Three graduate students from the MIT Media Lab have been recognized as part of the 2026 cohort of the Graduate Students of Excellence Program, which honors students who help strengthen the graduate experience at MIT through mentorship, service, and advocacy.

The 2026 cohort includes Ayat Abodayeh from Lifelong Kindergarten, Daniella DiPaola from Personal Robots, and Kimaya Lecamwasam from Opera of the Future.

The Graduate Students of Excellence program recognizes the often unseen work that sustains the MIT community — from mentorship and collaboration to advocacy and service — celebrating graduate students who help shape a stronger and more supportive Institute. Nominations come from peers, faculty, and staff, with particular emphasis on peer-to-peer recognition for students who demonstrate care, leadership, and a commitment to improving graduate life.
