MIT (and Wellesley) undergrad students can work for credit, pay, or as volunteers.
You can learn more about policies and deadlines on the UROP website. The Media Lab is one of the largest employers of UROPs at MIT, with approximately 150 students working each semester.
- UROP Direct Funding: May 7, 2020
- Supervisor/Sponsored Research Funding: July 9, 2020
- Credit and Volunteer: July 9, 2020. To receive credit, you must also register for the summer session. This summer MIT will offer UROPs for credit at no-cost to students. Note that this is a one-time-only tuition waiver.
Summer 2020 pay period: June 1 – Sept 7, 2020
These are firm deadlines set by the UROP office.
Note: Given the extraordinary circumstances surrounding MIT’s COVID-19 response and a strong likelihood that summer UROPs will be remote-only endeavors, the UROP office has extended their deadlines for this summer to allow students and faculty additional time to plan summer options. The summer application opens Thursday, April 16th.
