This work is being continued through The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT.

The  Humanizing AI in Law (HAL) project aims to build the technical and legal foundations necessary to establish a due-process framework for auditing and improving decisions made by artificial intelligence systems as they evolve over time. This work is directed at the concerning software that has been deployed within the criminal justice system to aid judges in the sentencing of criminal defendants.
