In fields where precision and logical coherence are non-negotiable, such as journalism, research, and law enforcement, the ability to reason effectively in writing is crucial. Yet, human writers frequently succumb to overclaiming, oversimplification, and logical fallacies, which can severely compromise the integrity and reliability of their work and lead to public misinformation.
In this project, we are addressing the pressing need for tools that enhance human thought and reasoning. We are actively working on creating a generative-AI powered logic-based text editor to foster critical thinking, reflection, and writing ability. The tool critiques writing and identifies weaknesses in one's logical argumentation , and encourages users to reflect upon and revise their texts using the Socratic questioning method.
Ultimately, instead of AI eroding people's ability to think critically, we are exploring how AI can help people become better thinkers.
