Cooperative media distribution provides a solution to the scalability and efficiency problem of real-time media distribution and information dissemination in general. The flip-side of this is that collaborative media distribution is a destabilizing issue for entities that rely on a centralized architecture for revenue. In order to reconcile the economic realities of media distribution with the technical necessity of network scalability, a suitable economic model is required. We are developing licensing and payment schemes to enable and encourage cooperative distribution, while providing viable revenue schemes for intellectual property holders.
