Cognitive Illusions and VR


This work explores the design of techniques based on the cognitive illusion of "inattentional blindness" which is a failure to notice something happening in front of you when you are focused on something else. The aim is to direct a user's attention and manage their perception to create VR experiences with high levels of presence. The  techniques were tested through a VR implementation of a disruption-free natural walking experience.  Video and paper available here:
