Optimal Shimming

NMR spectrometers are in almost every lab and hospital for their unique ability to do chemical spectroscopy and imaging. They could be incredibly interesting in homes and offices as new types of diagnostic instruments. Part of what holds back this development is that a human user is required to supervise the magnetic field of the spectrometer to ensure it is as homogeneous as possible. An algorithm has been developed to make this process dramatically easier and can be done solely with a computer.
