SoundSHROOM

SoundSHROOM is a device designed for the capture of 360-degree audio in outdoor, uncontrolled environments. The device is equipped with multiple microphones that give researchers multiple sensor channels for data exploration and aid storytellers in creating immersive exhibits with spatial audio. 

During July 2023, we deployed multiple SoundSHROOMs on Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, over various ecologically diverse locations. The systems were left out over multiple days for robustness testing while continuously recording acoustic data.
